  • Forever ago...

That's how long it had been since I posted here*bangs head*. Sorry!! Somehow time keeps flying and in the midst... I'm really bad at updating this!! I am on here pretty often though reading all of your posts. :)

It's September and that means we are once again to my very favorite time of year!! :) Mid. Sept. - Mid. October is the best time of year... well outside of the Christmas season anyways!! :) I LOVE the leaves changing on the trees, the perfect weather that come this time of year - not humid, and not very hot (usually like 60-75)-, I love the "fall" stuff...pumpkins, hay , apples (esp. MacIntosh)etc. It's just a wonderful time of year, and I am thankful to live in an area where fall is truely fall! :)I spent about an hour this afternoon taking pictures outside. All the goldenrod in the fields adds a glow of yellow and it's indeed beautiful. The leaves really aren't changing yet. There was more changed a month ago than there is now. We had a heat wave a couple weeks ago and all the leaves that were changed fell off and nothing has really changed since. Soon though... :) And I can't wait.

This Sunday is my 18th birthday. I'm having a party that afternoon w/ my family. My brothers Josh & Chris are coming over and my sister Melissa is coming w/ my 3 nephews. I love being w/ family. I've never really liked cake though, so I always make an icecream cake. This year it'll be half chocolate and half mint choco chip. :)

I've spent the last 2 days in bed w/ the flu. :( Thankfully today I am feeling a lot better, but I guess I have to miss the first night of Buckaroo Bible Club, b/c I am not 100% better yet. :( I'm just hoping that no one else gets it, b/c I don't want to have to cancel Sunday. A couple yrs ago we kept getting sick and didn't end up having it until late October.

I got my flute in the mail on Monday. :) (6 days after I was suppost to start flute lessons!!). I've been wanting to learn to play, so I got a brand new one off of ebay. I didn't want the traditional silver kind, so I ordered a black one w/ gold keys and it is beautiful!! :) I start lessons next Tuesday now. I've never taken lessons for anything before, so this'll be new. I self'-taught myself piano & guitar... and already got a head-start on flute since I've gotten it ( I couldn't help myself :) ) , and learned how to play G, A, B, & C perfectly.

Great news!! Jonathan dropped a bunch of his allergies!! Praise the Lord!! He was re-tested last Wednesday and dropped his allergies to milk, soy, corn, rice, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, cinnamon, watermelon, apples, chicken, and a few other things!! We are thrilled!! :) Jordan was supost to be re-tested yesterday, but it was canceled b/c I was sick. He'll be tested next month now.

Septmember 6th I got to help out w/ Harvest Day at Heritage Village, the nursing home I play piano at. It was a lot of fun. My job was helping w/ the drinks in the food line. It was outside and only like 55 degrees out w/ a cold wind. I was dumb enough to come in a short sleeve shirt! Anyway, that and the fact that a spent almost 3 hrs sticking my hands in ice water provided for a cold, but fun job. Before I double-layered my gloves my hands went completely numb!! Do any of you know who Scott Krippayne is? Well he's one of my favorite singers, and was there doing a concert. I only got to hear part of it, but he came and got a bottle of water from me, so that was cool. :)

Life has been crazy.. but now I just went completely braindead to all that has happed :0 so I guess I'll end here. :)

  • How come I can never think of titles??

I don’t update this near as much as I’d like too… Oh well!

I’ve been so extremely busy lately, I don’t even remember all I’ve done. J Since Monday I’ve longged in almost 8 hrs of babysitting my brothers, and that amount is on the rise as I speak. J

Jonathan & Jordan both have colds. I am praying soooo hard that I don’t catch it too ~ I hate colds! Jordan isn’t very sick, he’s coughing & has a runny nose, but is acting normal. Jonathan on the other hand is really sick. He’s been laying around crying for most of the day, and keeps saying that he needs to go to the Dr’s. J He didn’t sleep much last night either.

Right now we’re getting a new roof. Our house needed one, so we decided to go for metal. I wonder how that’ll sound next time is hails! J This is their 3rd day working on it, and they’re almost done. I’m not crazy about it, but I guess once I get used to the new look it’ll be fine.

Saturday was a lot of fun at our teen thing. J It was really hot & humid out, but we spent a good 3 ½ hrs outside. We played volleyball, but our pastor didn’t have a normal one, so we started out with this gigantic blow-up one that was totally huge! JNeedless to say, that was interesting…. J Then we played with this other weird ball too… J We had devotions, songs & ice cream as well. I got a little sunburned from it, but not as badly as I expected. I sunburn pretty easily…

Last Friday was a lot of fun. I went to the nursing home and from there went straight to Burkhards where I had dinner & then later we played baseball. Before going to the nursing home we went through our whole routine at church. I really enjoy going to the nursing home. Up till a couple years ago I actually used to be kind of scared of really old people. J Playing there has definetely help me over come that! When we got back to Burckhards, they asked me if I could watch Becca (8) & Megan (9) for a little while while they ran to store. While they were gone & the girls went off to play, so I parked myself at their piano. J I tallied it all up & figured out I played 5 different pianos that day! J That helped me a lot b/c I’m one of those people that had trouble adapting to a different piano… just they way it sits or sounds different that mine will mess me up. So I’m thankful that I got to play so many, because I think it really helped me. J Baseball was a lot of fun that night. I still need work on hitting the ball, but at least I did better than the first time. I hit it 3 times and even got a home run. J

Last Thursday night we went to see the Doerfels. That was a lot of fun too! They used to live in Springville (20 min away) until last year when they moved in a bus to travel around the country. The family plays & sings bluegrass music. The music was great as always and my little brothers loved it! The really love bluegrass and turn pots & pans into guitars, banjos & the bass. J So I figured that they would enjoy this too… I was hoping to get a chance to talk to Kim for a little bit since I hadn’t seen her in a year, but I didn’t really get to b/c she was busy and we had to leave. L

This Sunday I’m doing the nursery during SS and then that night I have special music. I’m playing “I’d rather have Jesus”. I love that song! The music is pretty, but the words are really good & true too. So I better not catch that cold!! J

Things are warming up here again. The past few days have been pretty bearable, but now the temps are nearing 90 again and the humidity is going back up. L I’m not at all crazy about humidity!

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about out mall adventure! J Last Tuesday we finally got a babysitter ( a very rare accourance), and my mom & I got to go out together for the first time in ages!! We went to the Olean mall & were in the middle of JcPenny, when all of a sudden the power went out & it just went pitch black in there! It was so dark you couldn’t even see your hand in front of your face! It only lasted about 30 seconds, but that felt like an eternity! Finally the genorator lights kicked on, but it wasn’t very bright at all. I had never had the power go off in my life while I was in a store. Anyways, the cash registers don’t work when there is a power outage, so they closed down the mall. The people that were in there could stay in, but no one else was aloud in. It was about 10:30 am and they got a report that the power might not go back on till 4 pm! We were like dying b/c we finally got to go somewhere, and now we weren’t even going to be able to get what we were gonna buy! We decided to try & wait it out a little bit. I had to go to the bathroom & the toilets flushed, but the sinks didn’t work. :p Yuck! Anyways, thankfully like 40 min later the power came back on. J It took forever for all the computers to load up again and everything though. We did still end up having a great trip. I got a really nice skirt @ JcPenny that was $36 marked down to $2.97!! I LIVE on clearance racks! J They’re the best things ever invented. J We went to Applebees for lunch & Friendly’s for desert, and then we went to JoAnne fabrics where I was able to get some nice scrapbook stuff… on clearance of course! J

I can NOT believe it’s July 16th already. Can someone tell me where this summer is going? School is going to be here again before I can blink. I think it’ll be a little more bearable this year knowing that every day is a day closer to graduating! I’ve never been crazy about school….

I still have 2 more articles to get in for the Prairie Blossom Gazette before Tuesday! Yikes. I’ve started them both, but I need to finish them & they still have a lot of finishing to do. I think I’ll make it though! I’m a deadline worker for some odd reason… I’ll go braindead until it’s almost deadline then suddenly my brain works. Go figure!

I am so excited because on August 11th the Erie county fair is having a nascar driver appearance. They have one every year, so yesterday I looked up who they're having & this year they're having Kasey Kahne! I am like so ultra excited because he's my 2nd favorite driver! :) My dad said he'll take me, so I am really looking forward to it! :) He'll be there signing autographs for everyone & I'm hoping I can get my picture taken with him too. I seen him last August at Watkins Glen, he road by in a golf cart like 6 ft away from me, but that's not the same as meeting him. :p

  • ** :) **

    How can I

be so busy without being really all that busy? I guess my little brothers are helping the days to fly. J

Last Wednesday was the last day of Buckaroo Bible club at church. This Wed. is sort of an off week, then we have summer programs going throughout the whole summer, and VBS Aug. 4-8th. I like being able to help out, it’s kind of fun. J

Friday night was the start of baseball. I did really badly too!! ;) After zillions of tries, I only hit the ball once & that time it landed straight in front of the catcher & I was out.  I have no idea what was wrong with me that night, because I usually don’t have much, if any problem getting out, because I’m usually able to hit it in time. I had a pounding headache, so I hope it was just ruining my concentration…. Anyways, before July 12th I’m going to try to practice a little bit, before no one wants me on their team!! J

Yesterday it was pretty stormy throughout the day, but other than some extreme rain, nothing out of the usual. We all sat down in church for the evening service when it was announced that Mr & Mrs Olsen had been called into the nursing home (the one I play piano at ) because their had been a tornado sighting and they needed help keeping all the people away from windows. I wasn’t sure I had heard right ~ A tornado sighting?! Turns out our county had been under a tornado warning and one actually touched down 9 miles from Randolph , though I never heard exactly where. Our church is right up the road from Randolph, so I’m thankful it didn’t come anywhere near us. J

Tornadoes are fairly rare up here, and when we do have one they’re always small. In the past 7 or 8 years Western NY has only had 6 tornadoes… and out of those 6 I somehow managed to live where one went right through our yard and at my old house we were on the edge of 2 more…

My mom isn’t feeling good today, so I’ve had the boys to myself until I put them in for their nap. I took them outside for a while & they somehow managed to get themselves so dirty I had to spray them down with a hose before I could even get them in the house!! J Their grandparents came over yesterday and gave them foam baseballs & baseball bats & a t-ball thing. So they’ve been hitting balls off of it, and surprisingly are naturals. I didn’t even have to show them how to do it!! J

The next few days are quite quiet, but after that we’re going to be really busy. July 4th we may go to festival in Ellicottville… 5th, we might go to the Jacob Brothers concert…. 6th firworks!! J And of course church… 7-8 ?…. 9th, church… 10th go see the Doerfels in concert (can’t wait!!), 11th, nursing home & baseball, & 12th, teen thing at church. My mom had a dentist appointment in there somewhere too. I like being busy like that though. J

About Me

  • I'm a Christian and homeschooled. I'm going to be graduating in or around Jan. 2009 and I'm SOOOOOOOO excited!!! :) I live at home with my parents, my 2 little brothers, Jonathan(3) and Jordan (2) and our golden retriever, Sammy. I have 6 older siblings ranging in age from 32-39 and then there's the big age gap back to me and then the other big age gap to my little brothers. I also have 10 nieces and newphews. I live in the country and am not sure I'd survive otherwise. ;) I love peace and quiet, with just the birds chirping and the wind whipping through the trees. NOT cars going by, or noisy neighbors... though I'm afraid we do have some of that last part. I love reading, writing, traveling, camping, scrapbooking, playing piano, guitar, and pretty soon, banjo, being with friends, and sports... nascar, indycar, Indy Colts, Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.
